Just letting you know we spent a great weekend in Selkirk at the Merida 100 mountain bike endurance event, very last minute, totally unprepared, untrained and unfit – but was fantastic! Would recommend it to any off road enthusiast, well run, great atmosphere, camping fabulous – girlies please note no queue for showers and a Minx stand!! – course was brilliant, very gruelling ascents but exhilarating descents and fabulous scenery. My man and I have managed this year Monster Bike and Hike, 10 under the Ben, Mallaig to Oban via Mull and Corrieyairack challenge but so far this was the best. We hope to take part in the 3G in September and my other half has a mad notion to enter us in the Kona Sleepless in the Saddle event (24 hour endurance relay ride Aug 27/28th Englandshire?) to this end possibly looking for a further 3 equally mad but up for it folk, to make a team of 5, just give us a shout. Please note, we are in it for the craic, not to impress with awe-inspiring times. ( alcohol and fun will play a vital role in this weekend).

PS Thanks Chris, Ben and Andy for educational skills night, despite J’s prize winning crash and ending up in sling for week!! it was really good and I’m sure the new skills we learned came into practise this weekend, I for one certainly had more confidence on cornering at speed and vertical descents – only joking, I did girlie out on some sections, sorry Ben.
