The training evening saw 12 club members turn up for what has been the best riding nights so far for the club. A mixture of all riding abilities with a variety of all ages attended. A quick ride of one of the many tracks at South Shian woods helped split up the groups into a good mixture of riding standards. The groups consisted of :

Group 1†††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† Group 2

Willie††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† Eilid

Nick ††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† John

Callum††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† Tom

Once the groups were decided Ben and Chris took there 1st group to their section of trail. The instructors talked the group through the riding techniques need for the particular sections. Benís section consisted of a twisty fast off chambered track, which ran along the hill side. This gave the riders a change to see how they should be riding small twisty turns. There was also a steep rocky corner to test the riders skills. Chrisí section had one bermed left hander with a flat right hander afterwards. This corner also had some roots on it.Braking, body positions on your bike and line choice were all major points that were talked about.

The groups swapped over and the same techniques were discussed with the other group. We then moved onto two other sections quickly before the sun rolled behind the hills.

Through the evening everyone improved greatly, everyone was more confident on their bikes and all had fun. Even the instructors!

Oban Cycles kindly donated a few prizes for the training day. Three categories were chosen for prizes. Most improved rider, Best Crash (Thereís bound to be one) and smoothest rider.

Although Nick tried very hard to win best crash by falling twice in front of Chris, the prize of an X-lite air freshener went to John who had a spectacular crash on Bens 1st section of track.

It doesnít always pay to be the fasted, Audrey showed her bike skills by being very smooth and hitting lines spot on. She won a SIS Energy Powder tub for being smooth. Just keep it smooth now that you have all that energy.

This decision was probably the hardest as all the riders had improved so much but I think everyone would agree that Josh deserved most improved rider. At first he was a little hesitant to ride any of the track. By the end he was riding all the tracks that were ridden. This little guy has no fear, watch out Ben and Chris!

Thanks for all who turned up, Andrew for taking the Pictures and thanks to John MacDonald for letting the club use the trails for that night and for presenting the prizes.
